Nokia will try to bring the Windows 8 experience to all Lumia series phones with its upcoming upgrade.
Even though the upcoming Windows 8 operating system will require a totally different set of hardware from existing Lumia devices, Finnish mobile manufacturer Nokia will try to bring the Windows 8 experience to all Lumia series phones with its upcoming Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade.
Vipul Mehrotra, director of smart devices at Nokia India, provided this information regarding the upgrade. "Since it's not possible to upgrade the hardware on the devices, to accommodate the new upgrade we will be looking at bringing the Windows 8-like look and feel to our Lumia range of devices with the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade."
Windows Phone 8 has been built using the same core as that of the Windows 8 operating system, and it thereby shares a common set of features for seamless, hiccup-free interoperability. Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 will share common features in networking, media, and the web browser, but since the hardware limitations will still apply to upgraded Lumia devices they are expected to miss out on the interoperability front.
Nokia Lumia users have yet another reason to cheer. Nokia will soon start releasing application upgrades for all existing Nokia Lumia devices. These upgrades include the all new Nokia live radio, an online song streaming service; upgraded Nokia Drive application with traffic details; the camera application with a set of new functions like best group shot and more. Along with all this the Lumia devices will also get the much awaited WiFi tethering feature, allowing people to use their devices to power the internet needs of their other portable devices.
